Features When 18-year-old Judy Ann Wood - now Judith Wood Perry of Chesapeake, Va. - graduated from Blanchester (Ohio) High School in spring 1959, she wanted to do something important with her life. Following boot camp at the U.S. Navy Training Center in Bainbridge, Md., Judy was attached to the executive officer's staff. As soon as Judy sat down on a bench, the smart-aleck sailors came over and sat down beside her, reeling off several flirtations - such as, "Wish you were on my ship, sailor" and, "The Navy should issue a WAVE with every sea bag to keep us warm."
