Dioryche MacLeay, 1825 is a moderately diverse selenophorine genus distributed in the Oriental Region. In this contribution, D. orszulikisp. n. is described from the extreme southwest of the Sultanate of Oman (Jabal al Qamar Mountain, Dhofar Governorate). The new species is very similar to D. nitidula Kataev, 2012 from Northwest India (Rajasthan) and may be considered as its vicariant. It is the only representative of the Oriental genera among Carabidae known from the southern Arabian Peninsula. The close relationship of D. orszulikisp. n. and D. nitidula points to a relatively recent migration of the ancestral form of the former species to the Arabian Peninsula, probably in one of the preceding humid periods, with subsequent isolation and speciation there when the climate became drier.
