Abstrakt: Acute myocarditis is a potentially lethal disease of infectious, autoimmune, toxic and allergic origin, manifesting clinically with heart failure and or arrhythmias. Initial early childhood symptoms such as cough, bronchial obstruction and tachypnea may be associated with “bronchiolitis in which bronchodilator therapy is uneffective”. Cardiac manifestations of myocarditis begin 5 hours to 5 days after the initial general manifestations. We followed up 42 children aged from 1 month to 16 years old, treated for bronchopneumonia with respiratory failure, during which acute myocarditis was diagnosed. The diagnosis was made according to “Guidelines for Diagnostic and treatment of myocarditis”, and the methods used were anamnestic, clinical - laboratory, radiological, electro and echocardiographic. Complaints of tachidyspnea and adynamia were observed in 57% of the children, 42.8% had gastrointestinal manifestations, and chest pain - 9.5%. Two children under 1-year-old (12.5%) were diagnosed with fulminant myocarditis. In one case, with the onset of ventricular arrhythmia and cardiogenic shock, which led to sudden cardiac death, one hour after starting treatment. In 95.3% of the cases with acute myocarditis, there was an improvement in clinical and laboratory parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
