To investigate the influences of the parameters of cut tobacco and cigarette maker on the ash integrity of cigarettes, ash integrity value, grayness value, whiteness value, burning cone height and carbonization ring width were measured from cigarettes made with a uniform design. The results were analyzed by multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: 1) The effects of different parameter combinations on the five indicators were highly significant with p values of 0.000, 0.001, 0.000, 0.002 and 0.000 and the determinant coefficients of 0.980, 0.971, 0.998, 0.962 and 0.995, respectively. 2) Cut tobacco width, the width of groove in ecreteur disc, the positive pressure and negative pressure of the air chamber had significant effects on the five indicators. Among them, the width of groove in ecreteur disc had a similar influence on the five indicators; width increasing was beneficial to promote the comprehensive ash integrity. 3) Considering the influencing trends and the degrees on the five indicators, the optimal combination of parameters were determined as: cut tobacco moisture at 12.6%, cut tobacco width at 0.8 mm, the depth and width of groove in ecreteur disc at 2.8 and 24 mm respectively, the positive pressure and negative pressure of the air chamber at 10 and 105 kPa respectively, excess tobacco recycling rate at 30%, secondary stem sorting amount at 65 g/min. In conclusion, the ash integrity of cigarettes could be improved through the optimization of the cut tobacco parameters and relevant cigarette maker parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
