Using the methods of optical metallography, X-ray phase analysis, and electron diffraction employing transmission electron microscopy, we studied the effect of ultrasonic treatment on the microstructure and phase composition of EBF3-made Ti-6Al-4V samples. It was shown that, as a result of an ultrasonic treatment, in the surface layers of EBF3 samples of Ti-6Al-4V, a significant refinement of the microstructure and the formation of the α″-phase take place. Subsequent uniaxial tension, in the modified surface layer of EBF3-fabricated samples of Ti-6Al-4V subjected to ultrasonic treatment, results in structural-phase transformations.
