The structure of a nanocrystalline Ti-50.9 at % Ni alloy with mixed subgrain/nanograin structure is investigated by transmission electron microscopy after annealing at temperature 400°C. The morphology and the localization features of the T3Ni4 precipitation and R-phase formed due to the B2 ↔ R martensitic transformation are investigated. It is shown that the Ti3Ni4 particles precipitate in the substructure in the low-angle boundaries regions. The initial non-uniform nanostructure of the NC TiNi alloy assumes an inhomogeneous distribution of Ti3Ni4 precipitates in the grain/subgrain structure. It is assumed that the heterogeneity of the Ti3Ni4 particles distribution in the bulk of the material is one of the reasons for the realization of the multi-stage martensitic transformations B2 ↔ R ↔ B19'.
