Generally the dissimilar welds of MONEL400 and stainless steel are used where high corrosion resistance and strength of weld should be moderate. In feedwater heat exchangers, chemical industries and nuclear power plants where corrosion resistance and weld strength of the materials should be high. In this working process, the two dissimilar weld metals of MONEL400 and stainless steel are welded by the process of pulsed TIG and Inter-pulsed TIG welding techniques. Although the heat input and filler wire used are the same for two welding processes the pulse current, background current, and welding speeds are varied based on the process. The micro/macro defects of the welds are inspected by the use of the X-ray Radiography Test (XRT). Then the Corrosion of the welds is tested to objectify the corrosion resistance of the welds. The Tensile properties of the weld are determined by conducting tensile strength. Thus the welded materials are tested and compared accordingly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
