The new era of electricity is the renewable energy, which is considered as a sustainable electrical power source. One of the most common and reliable sources especially in Al-Najaf, Iraq is Photovoltaic solar system. This paper proposed a grid-connected PY system with the capacity of 5 KW, 5KW converter and a grid source of 1000 KW to provide a rural resident in Al-Najaf city with a total daily load of 62.5 KWh/d. HOMER software has been used to examine the proposed system and compute the financial and environmental significant of the system. The resident is provided with 41% renewable electricity and the rest demand is covered by the grid supply. The financial cost of 1 KWh is estimated to be 0.078 $. The environmental pollution is decreased by more than 40 %. As a result, the resident electricity will be available even if the grid power has some fluctuation. Finally, the exceeded electricity will be sold to the power utility companies as "feed and tariff". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
