Abstrakt: The article discusses the history of taxidermy in Europe between 1775 and 1865, focusing particularly on how it related to European colonies and notions of imperialism. Some of the topics include cabinets of curiosities and the collection of specimens of natural history, public access to museums and collections, and popular interest in scientific expeditions. An analysis of the history of shifting views towards taxidermy is presented.
