Abstrakt: Ural Federal University is the largest regional educational institution with more than 35 thousand students and close to 4 thousand faculty members. Forced urgent transit of educational process to digital environment, occurring due to pandemics, was not simple, but the University performed it in a short time frame. The transit was preceded by the long history of developing online learning in the University, and implementing various digital technologies into the educational process. Digital transformation program aimed at quality transition to management based on data is implemented in the University since 2019. UrFU Digital University model suggested gradual transition of 20% (and later - 50%) of faculty academic load to digital environment, but global shocks accelerated the process. Digital environments possess great potential for efficient interaction of students, faculty, and business professionals that is aimed at searching for innovative methods and tools for solving actual business problems, and allows forming the required competences of university graduates. Digital environment also implies "digital footprints" of the classes that help faculty improving training methodology, and allow students gaining practical skills. The purpose of this paper is to examine UrFU experience in the field of organizing distance learning, and attitude of key stakeholders towards transition of education process to online environment. Paper presents results of surveys taken among faculty members and students, aimed at obtaining information of benefits and disadvantages, opportunities and limitations of distance learning. Research results can be used by educational institutions to improve the model of educational process in distance format. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
