In the present work, we have synthesized the high quality Zinc Sulphide thin films using a facile, inexpensive and versatile chromatography sprayer (CS) for the first time. CS is an atomizer made of borosilicate glass which produces pulverized mist spray of colloidal solution. It is used as spray nozzle of our home made spray pyrolysis system. In CS, solution and nozzle are one system and connected by glass capillary. Zinc Sulphide nanoparticles are synthesized by hydrothermal method using low cost precursors under optimized synthetic conditions. The thin films are prepared using our homemade spray coating system under optimized spray rate by colloidal spray coating method. Effect of substrate temperature on X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra, Surface Electron Microscopy (SEM) images, UV-Visible absorption and photoluminescence of ZnS thin films is studied. Colloidal spray coating of ZnS is found to form uniform, adherent and transparent ZnS films. The XRD analysis shows the polycrystalline and cubic nature of film material and confirms purity of material while having no secondary phase. The colloidal spray coated films are highly transparent due to suppression of coffee ring effect as compared to conventional precursor coating solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
