Abstrakt: In the current investigation, dissimilar welding of Inconel 625 and Duplex stainless steel 2205 (DSS 2205) were performed by using a high brightness Ytterbium fiber laser. Well bonded, defect-free and homogeneous joints were formed. Microstructure at interface carried out using SEM reveals the absence of secondary phase formation and no coarsening of grain. The maximum strength of the weld metal was reported to be 790 MPa and failure occurs at the weld zone in all the trial. Line mapping throughout the welded zones was carried out to assess the elemental migration along with studying the composition of various phases existing in the heat affected zones. Morphology of fractured surfaces was inspected by scanning electron microscopy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
