Background Lumbosacralgia manifested by lower lumbar pain is a degenerative disorder, generated by the damage of an vertebral structures as well as by the suffering of the lumbar soft tissues. Clinically, we include: isolated lumbosacral pain, lumbosacral pain referenced on the inferior limb, and lumbosacral pain with a nerve route irradiation. The aim of this paper was to find the most effective rehabilitation kinetic program for these patients to reduce pain, increase mobility and improve the suppleness, tonicity and muscle strength of the spine after 3 months of therapy. Methods The retrospective observational case study was performed on a group of 18 patients aged between 25-65 years, who following the clinical, neurological and radiological examination, received the diagnosis of lumbar back pain of different stages. The study was conducted over a 3 month period in 2018 at Bunavestire Rehabilitation Hospital of Craiova. This study colected data from the patient observation records and from the careful analysis of each case during a period of 90 days of treatment. Patients received 2 curative therapy consisting of specific drug therapy sessions and kinetic therapy. Results In terms of age distribution, patients between 55-65 years (30%) the incidence of lower back pain was higher in men (70%) than in women, also taking into consideration the social environment, a good recovery was observed in urban areas in 40% of cases. The patients who were hospitalized two months after their first episode had a very good recovery - 60%, good - 20%, moderate - 20%, while those hospitalized after 5 or 6 months, recovery was poor. At the beginning of this 18 patients study, 5 did not have the ability to self-care. After the kinetic treatment results show that 3 of them regained their self-care capacity- 75%, while 2 of them still requiring assistance. The lower limb rehabilitation was significant in 75% of cases, while in 25% of cases it was slightly significant. Considering the part of the body which has been affected, from the 5 cases with remission on the inferior limb, we have on the right side 3 cases – 70% and on the left side 2 cases – 30%. Conclusions The data collected from this study with 18 patients with lumbar back pain show that conservative treatment and kinetic protocol have good results for all patients rehabilitation. Patients who received both kinetic and conservative treatment had a better prognosis compared to patients who were only receiving conservative treatment. The score improved significantly after kinetic program was applied, with the absence of pain symptoms and regaining normal mobility. Kinetic treatment remains extremely important in addition to symptomatic drug treatment in rehabilitation of each patient with lower back pain and should be applied from the beginning of the disease. Lumbar back pain is a disabling short-term disorder that affects socially active people. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
