The diesel engines are widely used for their low fuel consumption and better efficiency. The properties of diesel fuel can be varied by mix with biodiesel and nanoparticle as additive. This study is focused on reduction in exhaust emission and improvement in performance of a single cylinder VCR CI engine. The experiment is conducted on different combination of fuels. The result shows that adding the AL2O3 nanoparticle improves brake thermal efficiency. There is a reduction of specific fuel consumption and improvement in peak pressure. Nanoparticle acts as an oxygen buffer during the combustion and preheating will reduce the viscosity of fuel blend. This will help to better atomization of fuel and results in complete combustion. It is observed that CO and HC emissions get lowered and CO2 and NOX levels are slightly increased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
