In this study, we investigated the possibility of the synthesis of Na-zeolite A from Bangka kaolin and examined its ability to removal of Fe3+, Pb2+, and Cu2+ ions from aqueous solutions. Na-zeolite A was prepared from Bangka kaolin by hydrothermal treatment. The adsorption experimental was conducted in batch method. SEM observation of Na-zeolite A indicated crystal morphology, which is characterized by cubic shaped crystals. The contact time for adsorption capability was varied from 0 to 90 minutes. Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) is used to determine the adsorption efficiency. The results showed the removal efficiencies of Fe3+, Cu2+ and Pb2+ ions using Na-zeolite A in aqueous solution are 90.19, 44.17 and 35.24%, respectively. These properties showed that Na-zeolite A is suitable as adsorbent for removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
