Working Environment Dust to Disorders of Lung Function of Workers Textile Industry Spinning.

Abstrakt: Background: Many factors affect the impaired lung function capacity. One of the pollutants in the air that is dangerous is the level of dust. Open the irritation of the upper respiratory tract. Exposure to dust in textile industry workers can pose a risk of pulmonary function disorders. Aim: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of work environment dust exposure on pulmonary function disorders in textile industry spinning workers. Method: Analytical observational research design, with a cross sectional approach. The population is all 96 spinning workers in the textile industry. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling of 35 people, this study uses a spirometer to determine pulmonary function disorders. Low Volume Sampler (LVS) to measure dust levels in the work environment. Measurements were made at 6 different points in the spinning area. Results: The measurement results obtained with an average working environment dust of 0.395 mg/m3 which is classified above the NAV based on the Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2018. 35 workers who became spinning section respondents, there were 27 respondents (77.14%) did not experience pulmonary function impairment and 8 (22.86%) experienced interference. The results showed that the work environment dust exposure had a significant effect on pulmonary function impairment with a p-value of 0.016 (p-value <0.05). The results of the measurement of the dust content of the work environment is still classified above the NAV, the company should immediately take steps to control the dust exposure source hierarchy.
