Abstrakt:	The article discusses the historical legal landscape of cemeteries, the special issues that arise in slave cemeteries, and the application of these doctrines to the African American burial ground in Charlottesville, Virginia. Topics covered include property interest in abandoned slave cemeteries, rights of sepulture in American common law, and the enslaved African Americans buried outside the enclosed University of Virginia Cemetery in Charlottesville.
