This chapter provides a chronological medical timeline for people with Down syndrome from birth into adulthood. In each age category-Birth, Infancy, Childhood, Adolescence, and Adults, specific guideposts are noted. These include updating medical history, securing age-appropriate exams and screening as well as specific additional evaluations relevant to that stage of life. Recommendations for each stage and an overview of typical developmental levels are also noted, as are specific screenings for celiac disease and atlantoaxial instability. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
