Abstrakt: The article outlines the main directions of resources use in the mountainous united territorial communities of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. Tourism is a priority among other sectors of economy, since it can rely on strong natural, historical and cultural potential, combined with the preserved ethnic traditions and traditional crafts in the studied region. The present state and problems of decentralization in Ukraine were studied. One of the problems in the newly created territorial communities is the lack of methodological tools for the complex use of tourism potential of the territories. The authors have proposed the algorithm for developing project proposals for tourism development within the local territorial communities. Tourism development results in the appearance of new environmental hazards within tourism destinations. The authors have analyzed the peculiarities of tourism impact on the environment in the mountainous united territorial communities (UTC). The main environmental impacts of tourism destinations are changes in primary landscapes, water pollution, air pollution, and waste management. The article studies the problem of waste management in the mountainous tourist destinations. The authors have improved the method of calculating the amount of waste generated by tourists and excursionists within tourist destinations. The calculated amounts of waste generated by tourists and excursionists within the united territorial communities of the mountainous regions of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast prove the tourists' impact on the amount of waste in the UTCs. In the analyzed UTCs the problems of waste generation by tourists and excursionists exist in the UTC of Yaremche City Council and in the UTC of Dolyna and Kolomyia regions. High indicators of waste generation by tourists and excursionists complicate the process of waste management which was planned without taking into account the possible impact of tourists. This circumstance makes the issue of developing waste management programs topical in the UTCs. The methodological approaches to the development of waste management programs in the UTCs have been proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
