The article examine the relevant statistics regarding organ donation transplants, some of the well-known cases regarding individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families who have fought for organ transplants after denials based on disability. It mentions issue of organ transplant regarding the intellectually disabled in consideration of the quality of life assessment that frequently occurs in these determinations and how policy is developed in health care issues. |
