The study aims to identify the mythological aspect of power both at the state level and at the level of social groups and interpersonal relations. To achieve this goal, the following methods were used: analysis – at the stage of researching various approaches to the study of the phenomenon of myth; comparative-historical – for the reconstruction of the evolution of the phenomenon of mythologizing power; generalization – to establish common features of myths about the ruler of the state and the leader in the social group. The phenomenons of mythologizing the status, personality, and mission of the ruler in the modern world are illustrated. The article represents a hereditary connection between archaic priests, astrologers, and fortune-tellers and modern political analysts, image-makers, and members of the press who are professionally engaged in the production and dissemination of political myths. The examples of religious sects leaders and myths concerning the domination of men over women explain mythological features of power at the level of communities and interpersonal relations.
