SSI occurred in 20 (22.9%) patients, 9 (12.6%) patients had a superficial infection, 11 (12.6%) patients developed an organ space infection including 5 (5.7%) anastomotic leaks, 2 (2.3%) returned to theatre, 3 (3.4%) required an radiologically guided drain and 5 (5.7%) patients re-attended with complications related to SSI. All patients had follow up colonoscopy after an acute attack with following findings: 2 patients had no pathology, 82 patients had diagnosis of only diverticulosis, 5 patients had both diverticulosis and polyps and 3 patients had bowel cancer. A total of 24 patients (11.2%) had complications, of which 12 (5.6%) patients had type I in the Clavien-Dindo classification, 4 (1.9%) patients had type 2 and 1 (0.5%) patient had a type 3b complication. B Results: b A total of 30 studies of 1,087,055 patients were included reporting on 11,510 patients with SRC, 110,179 patients with MC and 965,366 patients with CA. 77 patients (34%) had a USS, 29 patients (38%, 1:3 M:F) were reported as AA, 15 patients (20%, 1:3 M:F) inconclusive; and 33 patients (43%, 1:3 M:F) reported normal.
