In this article the author replies back to a professor regarding external quality assurance surveys (EQAS). It is important in all interlaboratory comparisons to clearly define the objectives of the survey. These can vary between schemes of the same provider, and even from one round to another within the same scheme. This must be taken into account when blunders are handled. It should also be noted that participants are not always responsible for apparent blunders, e.g., those emanating from non-commutability of test materials, and which cause deviating results in certain measuring systems. |
