This article critically appraises the book "Our Nuclear Future," by Edward Teller and Albert L. Latter. The book states: "The objection may be raised that the fallout, while not dangerous, may become more so as more nations develop and test atomic weapons." Even if the reader accepts this optimistic prediction, he will have on his conscience, by the author's own calculations, some two thousand cases of possible cancer per year for as long as the testing program shall continue. This seems like a great moral wrong, but Teller and Latter are right. |
