The aim of the study was to obtain a bio-mucoadhesive oral film for the enalapril maleate, which will have a natural polymer as a matrix. The polymer used was pullulan because is biocompatible and bioadhesive, soluble in water and will increase compliance with antihypertensive treatment, especially in geriatric patients with swallowing difficulties. Using the solvent casting and evaporation method, a transparent polymeric film with a uniform surface was obtained, to which the physico-chemical characteristics were established. FTIR and TG data suggest that weak chemical bonds such as hydrogen bonds were created between the two substances, and H-NMR data indicate a 67% enalapril inclusion, which is confirmed by the loading efficiency in spectrophotometric analysis. The release of enalapril incorporated in the polymeric film was produced according to an accelerated kinetics, achieving 100.30% in the first five minutes of the release test.
