The article focuses on the military aid given to Pakistan by the U.S. and the reaction of India. The political consequences of this aid to Pakistan have been unfortunate not only in India but in Pakistan itself. In the case of India, what began as an emotional outburst has hardened into an enduring sense of injury. The impact on the balance of political forces within India, and thus on the possibility that India may escape domination by pro-Communists or Hindu xenophobes, is another matter having a clear bearing on long-range U.S. security interests. |
