The article discusses discuss how a literacy educator and a fifth-grade teacher explored the impact of creating spaces for race talk centered on social justice-oriented children's literature, specifically books related to #BlackLivesMatter. It reports the discussions among students, family members, and educators produced "intergenerational narratives" that tapped histories of families' personal experiences and invited multiple perspectives in creating a safe space for talk about race. |
