Abstrakt: In order to systematically analyze the aging behavior and mechanism of asphalt from a micro perspective, the short-term and long-term aging test for TC-90# matrix asphalt were carried out to simulate the aging behavior of asphalt during mixing, transportation, construction and service period. The dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) test was used to compare and analyze the differences of rheological properties of asphalt before and after aging. Asphalt components test and Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FIR) test were combined to explore the reasons of the variation of asphalt's performance before and after aging in a microscopic view so that to reveal the aging behavior and mechanism of asphalt. It is found that during the aging process, the light components will react with oxygen at high temperatures and be formed into hard components. During this period, new functional groups are created. Rheological properties and viscosity of asphalt descend while the brittleness increases due to the enhancement of intermolecular force. The test data demonstrates that the impact of pressure aging on asphalt is 3 to 4 times of that caused by short-term aging, indicating that the aging of asphalt mainly occurs in the long-term service stage.
