Abstrakt: The article focuses on international trade of Japan. Japan's export performance remained strong in the second quarter of 2004. The export revenue raise by a brisk 13.4% year on year in the period, the fastest such increase since the 16.2% notched up in the fourth quarter of 2002. China accounted for 13.3% of export revenue in the period, compared with 22.4% for the US; this compared with 12.2% and 24.6% for 2003. Japan's import bill in the first half of 2004 was heavily influenced by high global prices for commodities. Thus, hefty increases were recorded in the period for imports of non-ferrous base metals, coal iron and steel.
