Abstrakt: SUB-MUCOSAL RESECTION OF 2 CM GASTRIC ANTRUM GIST: FIRST CASE DONE ENDOSCOPICALLY IN AUSTRALI... Susmit Roy, Aditya Benjamin and Michael Talbot St George Hospital, NSW GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour) is the most common mesenchymal tumour of the GI tract with 10-30% being malignant. Long-term follow-ups showed that residual symptoms experienced by patients are mainly mild and did not differ between group P and S. 73% of patients were at least satisfied or very satisfied with the symptoms post-surgery. Though patients still experience mild symptoms in long-term, majority of patients are satisfied with the outcome. Function preserving gastrectomy originally studied in peptic ulcer disease, has been applied in patients with early gastric cancer (3) but it may also be a suitable approach in patients requiring prophylactic total gastrectomy.
