Propagation of Longitudinal Electro-Kinetic Waves in IIINitride Semiconductor with Participating Ion Colloids.

Abstrakt: We present an analytical study on propagation characteristics of longitudinal electro-kinetic (LEK) waves in III-nitride semiconductor viz. GaN. The implanted ions in GaN agglomerate to form colloids. These ion colloids (ICs) are continuously bombarded by all the plasma particles and stick on them, but they acquire a net negative charge due to relatively higher mobility of electrons. To examine the influence of charged ICs on the plasma modes, we have derived a linear dispersion relation for LEK wave in ICs laden GaN semiconductor plasma. We have restricted our analysis tolow frequency regime of LEK wave where ICs can also participate in the perturbation. The dispersion relation leads to four modes of LEK waves, which are analytically investigated in zincblende (ZB) and wurtzite (WZ) structures of GaN. It is found that the presence of charged ICs significantly modifies the LEK modes.The present analysis reveals that the amplification of these modes can be optimized by fine tuning the applied electric field and wave number of the modes.
