Abstrakt: Introduction: Evidence is accumulating to suggest that identification and treatment of depression in patients with diabetes may have a favorable effect on glycemic control and perhaps even prevent or delay diabetes-related complications. The purpose of this study was to investigate effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) on self-care, depression in women with Type II Diabetes. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled trial with pre-test, post-test, follow-up and control group was used. Static population included all of diabetic type II women in Zahedan city who referred to medical health center. Sampling has been done with convenience sampling method in medical health centers then we chose 30 patients according inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants were randomly assigned to treatment group(n=15). Participants were randomly assigned to treatment group. Randomization was done after the collection of baseline data. After randomization into control and experimental group, participants proceeded through a 1.5-month intervention. Follow-up assessments occurred for both experimental and control groups in one month after the second data collection period. Beck Depression Inventory – Second Edition and Self-care Activities Questionnaire were used to gather data. Data was analyzed by mean and standard deviation, Wilks's lambda, Levene's test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, MANCOVA, Bonferroni's test were used by SPSS-20. Results: Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) showed that the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable was significant (p<0.001) and Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) affected the self-care diabetes and also their depression, also effects of it have remained stable after one month. Conclusion: According to the results, we can conclude that Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) is effective pattern. In this regard, it is recommended psychologists and counselors working in mental health can use MB-EAT for improving of self-care and depression of patients specially women with Type II Diabetes.
