The article highlights contemporary discursive practices of using civilization analysis in political and country studies contexts. It has been demonstrated that civilization theory is one of the modern complex interdisciplinary tools for the study of country-specific and geopolitical characteristics of socio-cultural communities. The approaches to the use of the basic principles of civilography in the applied political studies are described. The shift of the discursive accents in favor of prognostic modeling, disclosing of the general tendencies and mechanisms of the international relations is determined. The general trends clearly determine the approaches to the prospects for further elaboration of the problem, taking into account the results of the conceptualization of the recent researches and expanding the possibility of their introduction into political science.
