| Abstrakt: |
The article discusses a study that quantifies the effects of antihypertensive pharmacologic treatment compared with placebo or no treatment in adults aged 60 years and older. Highlights include exclusion of transient ischemic attack in the reporting of cardiovascular mortality or morbidity, the use of thiazide diuretics as a first-line treatment in over 70 percent of the trials, and antihypertensive drug therapy for a mean duration of 3.8 years at a 95 percent confidence interval. |
