Abstrakt: This research is to study the effectiveness of using different mechanical methods for extraction of nanocellulose from kapok husk. The raw kapok husk underwent isolation of cellulose phase before mechanical methods such as ultrasonication and cryocrushing. The objectives of this experiment is to study the effect of different mechanical methods on the morphology and thermal stability of nanocellulose produced from kapok husk. It was found that when the ultrasonication time increases, the size of the samples viewed under the optical microscope becomes more invisible. The thermogravimetric analysis shows that nanocellulose produced from 80 minutes of ultrasonication exhibits the highest thermal degradation temperature, followed by 60, 40 and 20 minutes of ultrasonication frozen 24 hours of cryocrushing and frozen 48 hours of cryocrushing. This indicates that nanocellulose produced from 80 minutes of ultrasonication with higher degradation temperature has more applications in the field of engineering compared to nanocellulose produed from 20 minutes of ultrasonication and frozen 24 hours and 48 hours of cryocrushing.
