Abstrakt: A tree surgeon aged twenty six years developed severe dermatitis of the face, arms and neck requiring oral corticosteroid treatment for control. He believed that his rash was due to working with a chain saw and as a result coming into close contact with sawdust. After settling of the rash, patch testing was performed using the European Standard Series. Tests identified sensitivity to the sawdust and leaf of lilly pilly. The lilly pilly is a common tree in gardens in Melbourne, Victoria. As many people contact this tree it must be regarded as having a definite but, low sensitizing potential.
