Abstrakt: Microfluidics deals with fluid flow in micron-sized channels. At least one characteristic dimension of these fluid-carrying channels is in the micron scale (typically from 1 μm to several hundreds of μm), resulting in flows with very small (typically, < 1) Reynolds numbers [1]. The scaling down of the channel dimensions leads to some unique features, such as laminar flow, rapid diffusion, rapid heat transfer, and large surface-area-to-volume ratios. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
