Abstrakt: | Tree infections can also cause cankers, rough patches that look like a tree rash. Sometimes, if a tree grows a branch that rubs against its neighbor, the second tree will grow new bark right over it (very slowly, over many years). When a big tree falls, the trunk can serve as a nursery for new young trees. This tree snapped when it was young - maybe another tree fell on it, or it bent in an ice storm.
