There are some general tendencies across all syllable and word positions. There is a regular increase in the relative duration of the tonic syllable, upto 200%. Less regular variation in intensity can be observed, moderately decreasing (2-3 dBs) as the word position varies from the beginning to the middle of the phrase, but increasing (2-4 dBs) phrase-finally and in isolated words. |
