Abstrakt: The article shows some interesting variations of F0, duration and intensity in the tonic syllable as a function of their position in the word, for words in initial, medial and final position in the phrase and for isolated words. The variation of average relative duration and intensity of the tonic syllable are opposite in phrase-initial, phrase-final and isolated words. There are some general tendencies across all syllable and word positions. There is a regular increase in the relative duration of the tonic syllable, upto 200%. Less regular variation in intensity can be observed, moderately decreasing (2-3 dBs) as the word position varies from the beginning to the middle of the phrase, but increasing (2-4 dBs) phrase-finally and in isolated words.
