Abstrakt: Uganda is rich in aquatic ecosystems. Commercial fishing involves an off-take that may not be ultimately sustainable. Aquatic ecosystems, like the forests, are under pressure. Forests, for many years to come, will remain the main source of energy for the people. They also continue to be cleared to make way for agricultural use of the land. Research for development must address problems of this kind as they are at the heart of the development process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
