The purpose of the publication is to investigate the peculiarities of M.Hrushevskyi's relations with the members of the Ukrainian Socialist-Revolutionary Party during emigration on the basis of his letters, deposited in the department of manuscripts of the library of the Ossoliński National Institute in Wrocław. The methodological basis of the work is an interdisciplinary approach. At the same time, methods of philosophical, general-scientific and specific-historical character are applied as well. Particular emphasis is placed on the structural and functional system analysis of historiographical facts, the comparative-historical method and the method of critical analysis of documentary material, based on the principles of objectivity and historicism. The scientific novelty of the article is that it publishes the letters of M.Hrushevskyi to the members of the Ukrainian Socialist-Revolutionary Party for the first time, previously they were deposited in the department of manuscripts in the library of the Ossoliński National Institute in Wrocław. Conclusions. The epistolary covers barely unknown contacts with the Socialists-Revolutioners who were emigrating in Halychyna during the first half of 1921. The immediate reason for the establishment of correspondence was the need to develop a common ground about the policy of the Government of Ukrainian People's Republic, in emigration, in particular about the participation of Socialists-Revolutioners within the Council of Republic. M.Hrushevskyi focused on the problem of the conflict between the USRP Foreign Delegation with Vienna (M.Kovalevskyi) and Prague (M.Shapoval) Party Groups that arose around the discussion of the attitude towards the Bolshevik authorities in Ukraine after the arrest of the members of the Central Committee of the USRP. M.Hrushevskyi insisted on the need for further support from the Kharkiv government to preserve the unity of the "revolutionary front"; stressed on the need to establish cooperation with the Bolsheviks in order to influence their national policy in Ukraine. Along with party problems, the letters raised the issue of providing financial support to Halychyna Ukrainians, as well as to members of the Ukrainian Socialist-Revolutionary Party in emigration. Using his authority in the Ukrainian community in USA, M.Hrushevskyi sent the received donations to the most needy compatriots. At the same time, he tried to protect the funds from abuse, having elaborated a detailed mechanism for the formation of helping committees. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
