The activity of European diplomacy on the settlement of the Balkan conflict of 1875-1877 has been investigated. The purpose of the article is to present, on the basis of a comprehensive and objective analysis, the main areas of European diplomacy for the settlement of the Balkan conflict. It turns out that the contribution of European states to the process of restoring statehood on the Balkan Peninsula, whether they supported the Balkan peoples in their struggle, or vice versa - hindered them. As a result, the author concludes that the national liberation struggle of the Balkan provinces of the Ottoman Empire is gradually evolving from the internal affairs of Turkey into an international problem. The contradictions between the European states have hindered the peaceful settlement of the conflict. The research is based on the use of a set of general scientific, structuralfunctional and historical methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
