Abstrakt: In the field of mechanical engineering, fins are used to increase the heat flow rate so that the heat is moved as desired. The purpose of this study was to obtain: temperature distribution on fins, heat flow rates released by fins, fin efficiency and fin effectiveness, on the unsteady state, and efficiency behavior on changes of fin length, convection heat transfer coefficient, fin thickness and thermal conductivity of the fin material. Straight fins have a fixed cross-sectional area, which is in the capsule form. The research was conducted by numerical methods using an explicit finite difference method. Variations in the study were carried out on the length of the cross section of the fin. Our research results show that the longer of the cross section of the fin leads to the higher temperature distribution on the fin, the higher the heat flow rate released by the fin, the higher the fin efficiency and effectiveness. Efficiency behaviour for changes of the fin length, convection heat transfer coefficient, thickness of fins and thermal conductivity of fin material can be analysed using our graphical results.
