Abstrakt: The article presents a study evaluating core body temperature and lying behavior as an indicator of feed efficiency profile of beef cattle-consuming forage-based diets. Topic discussed include ways to apply residual feed intake (RFI), a measure of feed efficiency (FE) in beef cattle selection; measurement of core body temperature (CBT) from the rumen; and use of rumen temperature (RMT) as a reliable estimate of body heat.
