Abstrakt: The present study implemented the use of digital storytelling to improve and retain vocabulary among young English learners. Most of the children claimed that it was difficult for them to learn and retain new words in English. The study was conducted as an Action Research and it was carried out in a public elementary school located in Boca del Rio, Veracruz, Mexico. The participants were fifteen children between eleven and twelve years old. The data were recollected through questionnaires, a journal, and documents (attendance lists, and evaluating progress charts). The constant comparative method (Glaser & Strauss, 1967) and descriptive statistics were used to categorize, code, and interpret the data obtained. The results demonstrated that the use of digital stories had positive benefits as an innovative strategy to learn new words and promote children´s retention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
