Abstrakt: This article focuses on worship wars in the Roman Catholic Church. Such wars are the result of tension and such tension is present when parishes are lacking or are deficient in these common traits in the area of worship. In 2001 Paul Wilkes published two volumes entitled "Excellent Catholic Parishes and Excellent Protestant Congregations." His search for the best parishes included hundreds of church communities. His purpose was to show that good parishes exist and that their approaches can be reproduced elsewhere. Wilkes and his assistants found that Catholic parishioners are looking for a connection with God, guidance in their spiritual lives, and a nurturing place to call home.
