Abstrakt: The article offers information on the dhows have become sites of suspicion for government and international authorities, scholarly literature on the Indian Ocean largely assumes that the dhow trade declined with the discovery of oil in the Persian Gulf in the 1950s. It mentions that Shifting regulatory regimes across India and Somalia have pushed the dhow trade into a shadow economy where they now carry both legal cargo and contraband across the Indian Ocean.
