Abstrakt: Disability Movement seeks allies it is important to be clear about the role of non-disabled people in its work. Perhaps a real, full and lasting rapprochement can only come about when sufficient changes have been wrought in society, politics and economics, so that disabled people enjoy full citizenship, and their culture and identity have been recognized and respected. Most disabled people would not want to establish some kind of apartheid between themselves and non-disabled people, but rather, would acknowledge common ground where both are concerned to see changes in society so that all citizens enjoy equal rights, equality of opportunity, and full access to the social and built environment. Such aims accord with the goals pursued by other groups including women and ethnic minority communities.
