Abstrakt: The article reports on the history of the construction of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, which was a historic Canadian transcontinental railway running from Winnipeg to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The Liberal government of Wilfrid Laurier, the seventh prime minister of Canada, allowed both Charles M. Hays of the Grand Trunk Pacific (GTP) and William Mackenzie of the Canadian Northern (CNoR) to start construction.
