Background &Objectives: The present study is to investigate the acute and sub-acute toxicity of the Thetranvidhaikudineerin wistar albino rats. Methods:The acute and sub-acute toxicity study was carried out as per (OECD) testguideline 423 and 407and Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) respectively. In acute toxicity study, the dose (300, 1800 and 3600 mg/kgb.w) of Thetranvidhaikudineerwas orally administered to three rat groups in single dose and general behavior, adverse effects and mortality compared to normal group were recorded for 24 hours and once daily further for a period of 14 days. In sub-acute study, the Thetranvidhaikudineerwas administered at doses of 360, 1800 and 3600 mg/kg.bw for every 24 hours orally for 28 days to the three rat groups. At the end of study, biochemical and hematological parameters were estimated. Vital organs of the rats were taken into histopathological examination for gross findings, compared to controls. Results:There was no significant difference (p > 0.05) observed in the relative organs weight, body weights, hematological, biochemical parameters, and gross abnormalities, compared to the control. No mortality was recorded. Interpretation & conclusions:This results may showed that the oral administration of the Thetranvidhaikudineerat doses of 300, 1800 and 3600 mg/kg.bw for 28 days does not showany toxicity effect in wistar rats.
